Not Too Terribly Exciting

Hey, y’all. I have to say I have had a blessed life, overall. I am what you would call a Boomer. I have a fantastic wife, three surviving awesome grown kids, and at the time of this writing, going on six grandkids. These people are the center of my world and I will do anything to protect them. This is really the important stuff.

Other Stuff

I have had several career changes over the years. Mostly I have been self employed. The work I have done spans several industries, and they make absolutely no sense. I have worked with wood and metal and have pretty much always had a shop of various sizes and configurations. I no longer use these skills as a source of income. I make trinkets and small things just for friends and family. I have owned a metal shop/forge and have created things in there that I am very proud of, especially the DaVinci hammer. I was in finance for a long time as well, but really a desk job wasn’t my thing and I found it kinda boring. My wife and I owned a transport (freight) company for a while until the economy collapsed. But that’s a whole other story.

I think the most rewarding occupation I have had was as a writer, author, and investigative journalist. I have published about 1500 newspaper and magazine articles, wrote three books, and have moderate success with various blogs and video channels. I currently co-host a podcast on rural living. I also volunteer as an Advanced Storm Spotter for the National Weather Service. There are links around the site for all this.

Now I am retired. I have Parkinson’s Disease, Diabetes, and several other rather annoying disabilities including cognitive decline. Yes, this does limit me but I try to stay engaged with my friends and family. I collect SSDI and have Medicare and my wife works an incredibly complicated job that just blows my mind. That woman is one of the smartest and most capable people I know. I totally married up.

Well, that’s it for now. I am not going to bore you with the trivialities. Suffice to say, I am a happy curmudgeon prone to rants, but mostly seek to educate people on a variety of subjects.

What You Won’t Find Here

I do not delve any longer into politics and religion. It’s a fool’s errand. If you are happy with your world view, it’s none of my business.

Thanks!
